So you want to know where we're from??

Well, okay. Way back a long time ago, around October of 1992 when nothing mattered except bad grades, beer, and Bry's socks, there were a few guys in college with an affinity for wasting time on places like TinyTIM. One of them, named Bry, came up with this crazy idea that they could take over the wor ... er, no that was a different time. Oh yeah, he thought that the three of them could start a new MUSH, and be ultra cool like all of their online friends who also had nothing better to do.

Well, somehow, they enlisted the aid of another friend, at the time calling himself ArchAngel. He dug through the then fairly mysterious TinyMUSH code, and got it to compile. Bry, who lived with Enry and Geo, came and got them, and they all went down to the ERC to see what damage they could do. Also tagging along was Trout.Complex, who was then a wizard on TinyTIM as well.

Beginnings

When they got to the ERC, Bry, Enry and Trout sat down to play, and Geo sat over Trout's shoulder watching. Here is Geo's closest approximation of the sequence of events(with the approximate time frame):
  • Bry logs in and makes himself a wizard(10 seconds)
  • Enry logs in and makes himself a wizard(10 seconds)
  • Enry and Bry start making stuff(2 seconds)

At this point, both Bry and Enry stare blankly at their screens, having been just turned into carrots by Trout, who is now making the game grind to a halt with a database of about 1000 items all called 'Squirrel'. Geo then patted Trout on the back, mission accomplished.

After this somewhat rocky start, All four of them started actively creating things and generally having alot of fun with it. The first batch of wizards on the game were:

Bry, Enry, Geo, Trout.Complex,
Marcia (also from TinyTIM), and ArchAngel

There was a long period in here where Geo and Enry were the principle contributors to the game. They built most of the stuff, with lots of long nights put in by both of them. There weren't many people on the game at that point, but a few people already had their hands into things. A few of the oldest players were:

banana, b., Joker, ShadowHawke, and Taya

ArchAngel gone, Singlenesia dies, Pile grows

After a short while, Geo figured out how to do the hardcode stuff, and ArchAngel's usefulness was gone, so they killed him. They never found him. All Enry and Geo ever say about this was 'He knew too much.' Noone's really sure where he ended up. Let's fastforward through a bunch of nonsense ... and get to some more of the good stuff. Sometime in the past, let's say February of 1993, Singlenesia, another MU* of some note ate the big one. Having already acquired somewhat of a reputation as being a good place 'Refugees' to gather, a whole slew of people from Sing came over and started hanging out. Shortly thereafter, I believe in April of '93, Elavil (from Singlenesia) was wizzed. Sometime before that following summer, Marcia left to concentrate more on TIM, and then the first great huge big event thing which to this day has not been fully explained took place.

Pile takes over, changing of the High Guard

Up until this point, Ed.Asner was our loyal and trusting God figure. He took care of all the silliness, and was never much for ceremony, and was liked by all. He liked Trippy so much that he gave his life for it. Or at least, as far as we know. Somewhere during the summer of '93, a pile started growing in the then hub of activity on Trippy, the 'Pit Thang'. It started with a pair of Bry's sox, and was quickly joined by all sorts of crap. Everything from twinkie wrappers, to a computer monitor that shows nothing but 'db_get error'.
Aside: it should be noted that Trippy was going up and
down a lot during this time period. Strangely enough,
it was mostly to do with the fact that the Pile was
holding too many objects. So, in essence, the Pile was
	slowly eating Trippy.

The pile grew to such size that it actually started eating players, and was almost sentient in its malicious capacity to destroy everything that got near it. Ed *had* to do something. In a glorious final battle, Ed.Asner destroyed the pile, and was blown clear off the game. There is some speculation that The Pile was actually an experiment Ed was running in space travel, but that has never been proven. When the dust cleared, there were a whole slew of projects being built up in the rubble. A shiny new TrippyTowers was erected, the Asylum (our trusty hotel) acquired a basement, and accompanying maze. The old Pit Thang was now a smoking mass of rubble, and the MushSphere was built nearby to give us a new hangout place. TrippyMUSH was reborn in the ashes of the Pile. Also, it should be noted that an interesting man in a wheelchair rolled into town that same day bearing a case of Bully Hill wine, and a goat. He is our new Godhead, Walter.S

Praise Walter

Recent (?) History

Since then, we've seen our share of comings and goings, including a few other wizards of note:

  • Bry left (he wouldn't clean up his sox)
  • Scrag-Ho joined, and hasn't left yet. He is currently going by the name of bones, but, just like life, it changes periodically.
  • Trout.Complex left (his Mom said he couldn't play without a doctor's note, and he wasn't through enough med school yet to write his own)
  • Fugue joined us, and then forgot he was alive, and stopped showing up
  • Bootch joined us, then left (he claims he wasn't getting enough beef jerky)
  • Coyote joined and left, due to the large clump of toejam he'd been hiding from all of us. And you were wondering where all your toejam went.
  • Danke, coffee be praised, joined us, and soon became wiz-emeritus.

And finally... Schism

Around July of '96, a couple months ago, seems like forever.... we had a fairly large sized parting of the ways. Enry, Cary, Elavil and Danke (by proxy) left their wizbits behind in a blaze of glorious hellfire. They left to pursue another venture called Plan9 MUSH which is most likely still registration only. But go check it out sometime, and if they think your cud is like their cud, they might let you in on the fun. In any case, Geo and Scrag-Ho (bones), are currently doing their best to keep things running along smoothly.

Ah yes, since then... hmm. Well, Logan joined the Wiz staff full time (whatever that means), and Coyote rejoined as wiz, although he's rarely on. Geo moved from FL to OH to CO and has put down roots there, as has pebkac. pebkac has taken on a couple new MU*s ... like Fedora and Arcadia. Times change, people come and go, put pebkac still remains. Munk.

The RETURN

March of 2000: Enry returns to TrippyMUSH! When asked about the dramatic re-entrance, he heard to say, "Uh, I lost my bus pass". Decide for yourselves, folks ... and beware the SUB!
